renumbering measures

Windows 8.1, Finale 14.5 - After inserting extra measures in the middle of a doc., Is there a way to have Finale number certain measures as - ex. 311 - 311 A -311 B - 311 - C and so forth until measure 312, in this instance, comes up and not have the numbers of the subsequent measures affected?

Click on the measure tool and then under Measure choose Edit Measure Number Regions...and you can customize all you want. However, not sure about the 311A, 311B, etc. So that manually for each measure?

Martin, I tried what you said. That dialog box with editing measure regions IS VERY CONFUSING. Please give me a step by step once I get to that dialog box
