In the description of the new laptop computer I am considering purchasing under 'Audio' they list 'External Audio Output'. I am getting a USB audio interface. Will I be able to play VST sounds thru Finale in Windows with this setup or do I have to have a sound card?

I play VST (Aria) sounds through my Mac laptop all the time, although the sound is better when I plug in external speakers (via the headphone output).

Check the sound card for compatibility. It has nothing to do with whether or not you can plug speakers in.

 

With a Mac, it's not an issue because Apple's standards are tighter.
