Fit Measures is set to 6 and when I copy and paste, notes get pushed off the right side of the staff.

I then need to reset Fit Measures. What is the fix?

Yes, but it’s just a single keystroke; CMD (or CTRL)- U

 

Do you have Automatic Update Layout selected in your Preferences?
