Hi all, I am using Note Performer 4 with Finale 27.3 under Mac Sonoma 14.4.

 

This is a problem that is new to me.  When I tie two identical notes together, within a bar or across the barline, the notes sound separately, not as one longer note.  This is the first time this problem has occurred for me.  I have no problems slurring several notes together.

Any ideas?

Let us talk “Finale-speak”.

 

Slurs and ties are different.

 

Slurs are added with the Smart Shape Tool. A slur means “legato”.

 

Both entry tools can add ties. A tie is used between two notes of the same pitch, to get only one (longer) tone, with the summed duration of the two notes.

 

* Are you adding slurs via the Smart Shape Tool? - or are you adding ties via one of the entry tools?

okay...got it.  i was using slur tool thinking it would know to tie two identical pitches together.  figured out how to use tie tool in simple entry!
