Clear measure with Back Space

When I enter a chord in a measure, it is no longer tied to a note in the measure, but it is tied to which beat or subdivision in the measure it is closest to. Why, then, is the chord deleted when I use the Selection Tool-->Back Space to clear the notes in the measure? If I have a number of measures with notes in them and chords entered over them, is there any way to clear the notes without losing the chord changes?

Using backspace clears all measure data. You can delete the notes/chords individually or to use the "Clear Selected Items..." filter.

To use to the filter:

1) Right-click the measure

2) Choose "Clear Selected Items..."

3) Deselect anything you want to keep.

4) Hit "Ok."

You can also get to the "Clear..." filter from the Edit menu.
