I am running Finale v26 on a Mac- OS 10.14. I'm doing a big band score, and the only playback sounds I'm getting are from the chord symbols in the piano part. I have it going through audio units for playback, and I believe the midi channels are correctly assigned. I have tried reassigning sounds. Wondering if having more than 16 channels messes it up, so I went back to just sixteen channels but still no change.

Thanks

Did you check to see if the Chord line might be set to Solo in either the Mixer or the Score Manager?

Thanks Mike!

Solo is not set in score manager, and I don't see any solo indications on the mixer. Is there a spot in the mixer to check if chords are set to solo? The instrument list button gets me back to score manager.

No, I guess the instrument list is the only spot to solo chords.

If you would like to send me the score, I'll have a look. wawoodman at aol dot com

Also check the volume sliders in the MIDI/Audio > Devices & Effects panel. For some reason they occasionally set themselves to zero.

I am at a complete loss. Sorry.

Have you sent it in to tech support?

Thanks J Adrian!

Can you clarify where the faders are? I am not finding a "devices and effects" panel under midi audio. I have "audio units and effects" but cannot find any volume faders in there.

I son’t think that’s it, though. I was able to change the pitch of existing notes, and add new notes, and they played back properly.

Sorry, I got the name slightly wrong (even given the differences between the names in Windows & Mac). Here's what it looks like. It's a long shot, but I thought I'd mention it. (I realize that in my illustration, no VST's are selected, so of course in this diagram the levels would be set to zero.)

Yeah I see that menu. Volume for bank 1 has been at 100, volume for bank 2 was at 0. Raised it to 100, but still no sound during playback. Like Mike said, there is sound when you input a note, move a note, or hit a key on the controller. Just not playback. Only chord symbols in the piano part.

Thanks again for the help

I was having the exact same problem as you, but on the Windows platform (Windows 10/Finale 25.5.0.290). The workaround I discovered was to select "Standard" instead of "None" under MIDI/Audio -> Human Playback. Hope this works for you!
