Even with a $40 discount until April 26, 2020, this is still an expensive upgrade. If I look at my transition from Printmusic to Finale and the subsequent upgrades over the years, it really has been an expensive proposition.

Compared to what?  Dorico or Sibelius would have cost you more. The $99–$129 annual upgrades for Finale have been gone since 2013.
