Windows version 27.0.0.708.  To playback from a specific measure in scroll view, I space-click on a measure and the scrolling doesn't begin until 4-8 measures after the playback begins.  SO, the scrolling view is behind the music playing and many times the music has progressed beyond the music that shows on the screen.

We need a lot more information. MIDI? VSTs? NotePerformer? Does it work properly from the beginning?

Hello Mike, I also have had the same issue occur a number of times (including when using Noteperformer), and have wondered whether this method of playback (from specific measures) has an intrinsic bug.

For example, doing playback this way quite often IGNORES my then current expressions/tempo settings; BUT these do always work correctly if instead playback is chosen as from the leftmost measure, or simply back from the very start.

When you use the spacebar to start playback, the playback skips Human Playback (HP), which would indeed affect your dynamics during playback. I tend to use Play From Leftmost Measure to avoid this.

If you have the latest versions of Finale and NotePerfomer, there should not be a delay between playback start and the scrolling playback cursor.

Thanks Adrian, the only issue I have is that when doing so (ie setting and using playback from leftmost visible measure), the previously set ( and therefore still current) dynamic markings seem to be ignored - whereas if I return to the very start and play, then all dynamics do work correctly. I wonder if that is normal?

I have experienced no problems with dynamics when I use start from leftmost measure. Sorry if that is not true in your case.

This is an old issue and there are discussion threads about it on the old board. It has to do with the way DP Playback looks at snapshots and automation. I never paid much attention to it and don't know the solution.

Is that Spacebar-click a Windows thing? I can't do it on the Mac.

Mike, do you have the Playback Controls window open or closed?
