Instrument balance

I am new to using aria player. I'm using finale v26 and a mac with Catalina 10.15.6.

I would like to supplement my choir sound with some winds. I have them set to the same channel, but the clarinet sound is balanced too loud with the voice. When I move the slider down for the clarinet in aria, it pops right back up each time I hit play in finale. Is there a way to balance these voices and have the balance stay put?

After reading that thread, I see that moving the mixer in aria will not produce my desired effect. I had put 2 instruments on one channel in aria, and I was hoping to balance them independently. It sounds like that won't actually work, is that right?

The thread I linked to explains that you should not try to balance the instruments in the Aria mixer. Use the Finale mixer instead to do this. If you want to control multiple instruments independently they need to be on separate midi channels.
