I recently installed the latest finale 27 update on my M1 Mac mini. When I tried using playback with Audio Units (NotePerformer), I got a spinning cicle and the program froze. I restarted finale and used midi instead of Audio Units and it worked fine. When I tried to switch to Audio Units it froze again. Anybody having issues with this?

I admit I am almost exclusively a Windows user, but is NP considered an Audio Units instrument? Can you access Garritan Instruments for Finale (GIfF) on your new Mac?

If NP is not accessible, period, try reloading it, since sometimes a program like NP needs to be loaded after Finale to establish the connections it needs.

Also realize that NP is not yet M1 compatible, so you would need to run it (and Finale) through Rosetta.

The weird thing is that NP was working fine for me before the update. But I hadn’t thought about Rosetta.

Yes I am having this issue on my 2020 MacBook Air...the Audio Units give me the spinning circle of death but the Midi works just fine.

Since NotePerformer 3 is not M1 Native. It only works if Finale is run in Rosetta 2. If it doesn’t behave immediately on checking Open in Rosetta 2 in Get Info, reinstall NP and reboot..

Is this an M1 Mac? If not, that’s a different issue. Likewise if you have Finale opening in Rosetta 2 and it’s not behaving or if crashing. I’m testing a solution from Wallander tomorrow and will post when I’m done.

I fixed the problem using the Rosetta 2 solution!

Great. On that other NP issue, I will post the solution in the thread where I first brought it up — assuming I'm successful, of course.
