Human playback for only part of a file

I want to apply Human Playback to only part of a file. When I follow the directions for doing that in the manual, the Human Playback is applied to the entire file, not just the highlighted section. anyone have any idea how to correct this? I have tried doing the highlighting with both the midi tool as directed and with the pointer tool.

My software version: 27.2.0.142

My operating system: Mohave 10.14.6

There is another way to do it.

You do not mention that other way; I assume that you have not tried it:

Use the Playback Controls, and toggle Human Playback on.

Then, use custom expressions to toggle Human Playback off and on where it is needed.
