I try to insert a retard prior to a fermatta. The fermatta works, but I have to add two or three 'rit' commands before the music will retard.
I insert 10 measure stacks. The new measures are small, very tight. I add some quarter notes to the measure, but the notes remain closely cramped in each measure.
