Double-clicking on a note selects it in Mac. Does that not work in Windows?

Double-click on the last note that gets beamed; in your case, the Ab. Tap the / key, and it will beam to the G. Select the G, and tap the / to beam to the F. Note: this is on a US QWERTY keyboard...

You're on Windows, then? No, I don't know of another way, but counting and hiding. Sorry.

Only the full Finale uses plugins. None of the other products, sorry. Which plugin did you need? Maybe we can figure out a workaround. The plugins aren't magic (although they often seem like it!)...

Does it show the sounds correctly in Score Manager? Have you tried Reassign Playback Sounds?

Rather than a staff style, select the staff with the selection tool, and right-click in the handle. Choose Hide Empty Staves.
