Finale 27 Windows 10 Garritan JBB 3

The instrument balance is off during playback, even though the volume level for all 4 horns is set the same (101) in Score Manager. The 1st tpt can hardly be heard, so I increase volume to 127 (as high as possible) - no difference. In Aria player I move the tpt 1 slider all the way up. No change. I adjust the mod button - success. BUT, upon pressing PLAY in the Playback Controls, my adjustments are lost. What is the best place to make these adjustments and have them stick? And what is the MOD button anyway? I can't find any documentation for it. I really appreciate any help. Any recommendations for an affordable horn section library which is easier to use and sounds better than Garritan's crummy trumpets would also be appreciated.

The Modulation Wheel (CC1) controls dynamics for sustaining instruments. The value will reset when you press play, based on the HP settings and the dynamics in your score.

You could try Noteperformer, which is cheap and easy to use.

Apart from the recent build for Apple Silicon of ARIA Player, MM doesn't seem to be doing much with Garritan.

Odd that a setting affecting the sound disappears on playback. Thanks for the Noteperformer suggestion. Most of my work is for 3-5 horn + rhythm sections. I use playback for an aural spellcheck, so I  don't need great playback, just something that's not as painful as Garritan. Noteperformer's price and free trial period make it very attractive.
