Why on earth would the extraction put the files in my downloads folder.  Why doesn't the extraction create a folder in either Program Files or x86 Program Files?  Orrrr is this going to happen after the extraction?  I dunno

Because something in your Preferences tells it to. Other than that, we need to know your Finale version and OS.

This is where the extraction wants to put the extracted files.  See below for where current version (v26) is located.

Do I have to create a Finale folder in C:\Program Files\ and then choose this folder for the extracted files?

Also do I have to UN install my current version of Finale before installing the new version?

You can have more than one version of Finale at the same time. I don't like to but it can be done. I kept 2014.5 and 26.3 for a while but 27.2 works so well the older versions are of no use. IMHO, as usual.

You need to set up the extraction destination folder before you tell Finale where it is. Finale will not create the folder for you.
