My keyboard commands in Finale 2012 (PC-HP-Windows 7) have changed on their own apparently? In the past, when there was Finale Tech Support, I could call and have someone help me through the "delete preferences". That support no longer exists. I am a working composer-arranger-orchestrator - this is my job and I cannot consider other options to Finale, and keeping 2012 at this point. I may go the newest version and perhaps soon, but I do not want to jump ship just because of this.

I am willing to pay a reasonable amount to have this resolved.

Thank you.

Don't know if MM still supports Finale 2012, but you can try the "Submit a request" link above to see if you get a response quickly. (Admittedly this is Friday, and it's Christmas/Hanukkah weekend.)

It sounds like you're asking for help deleting the preferences. If so, take a look at the following step-by-step. This was provided on the regular Make Music forum by forum member Motet.

Try quitting Finale and going to

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2012

Rename finale.ini to something else, relaunch Finale, and see if things are better. This will create a new finale.ini and reset all your preferences to their defaults. If things don't improve, you can rename the old one back to restore your preferences.

Thank you J Adrian Verkouteren & Bruce Kling. I think I found a solution BUT...while I am here...Thinking about going ver. 25. A bit confused about the ReWire? Anyone using it effectively and with REAPER?

I have no MIDI IN in setup window.  So I tried to fallow the troubleshooting for adding the MIDI signal as in your Makemusic Help Center.

Q1 - What does version number (MIDI-OX) mean and where do you find it?

Q2 - Do you have better steps and remarks while trying to download this tool?

Hi Raymond,

It sounds like you are referring to the Windows steps in this article: MIDI input troubleshooting, is that correct? If so, after clicking the link (this is the same link) in step 2, to go to the MIDI-OX home page (this is a third party software that this article uses to troubleshoot MIDI Input).

Once you're at the MIDI-OX home page, scroll down about halfway and click the link Download: MIDI-OX [latest version number here]. You will be taken to a second page where (about halfway down the page again) you will see the same version of MIDI-OX listed with a download link next to it, click that Download link (do not use the Previous Versions section) to download the installer for MIDI-OX. After downloading and installing MIDI-OX you can continue with the steps in the initial MIDI input troubleshooting article.

Hope this helps!

Still could not enter notes (hyperscribe/speedy entry).   My MIDI setup window,   IN =  USB Uno MNIDI interface.  The out, you have many choices.  Default, GS...,S/B USB Uno.....!  What is the problem now?

Hi Raymond,

The MIDI-OX program is not designed to help connect your MIDI keyboard to Finale, but just to test your connection between your MIDI keyboard and computer. When trying MIDI-Ox were you getting Note On/Note Off messages? If so, your MIDI keyboard is connected to your computer and Finale should be picking up that signal.

If you are note getting notes using the HyperScribe or Speedy Entry tools there are a couple of things to check.

For HyperScribe, please check that Finale is set to receive on All Channels. Here are some steps for that: HyperScribe note entry is not working

For Speedy Entry, please make sure that the Use MIDI Device for Input option is selected from the Speedy menu which appears when you select the Speedy Entry tool.

If you are still having trouble after trying these suggestions, please use the Submit a request button above to get in contact with one of our agents for further assistance.

Hope this helps!
