Notepad 2012 Mac

I have a problem with Notepad 2012.

Somehow when I click the smart shape button, a small palette appears, but only contains 5 tools. I cannot select the Octava tool for example. Moreover the smart shapes are slow at responding. I have to click several times all over the place to get a slur at least.

Could somebody help me please?

If NotePad is what you have, there are only 5 tools in the palette: Slur, crescendo, decrescendo, line, and gliss.

If you want more tools, you will have to upgrade. SongWriter and PrintMusic both have 11 (including the octava), and the full Finale, 19.
