Screenshot below. I've had this before... when I get up to a large number of pages, the top several staves disappear as a begin to scroll to the next page.

It's very frustrating, as I'm unable to view the partial previous page... in order to see the staves that have disappeared, I have to scroll back until that page is the "current" page.

Anyone else had this problem? Thoughts?

Thanks,
Dan

I've seen this happen in Finale 25.2, but only (in my experience) when the score scrolls during playback.

Fortunately the effect is not permanent.

Hi Dan,

I agree that looks quite odd. Is this happening in all files, even newly created files? Or does it just appear to be a handful of files? Also, when this happens, if you choose View > Redraw Screen (or use the shortcut CTRL+D) do those staves behave properly?

Also, has this only just started happening recently?

When I have seen it is while full-page systems of music are scrolling as part of playback. It is distracting but not permanent (in my case).

It could be the graphics card not keeping up. All systems prioritize tasks. If this is a chronic issue, it could be a sign that something needs to be upgraded—but what? CPU? GPU? Drive? RAM? All?

OS? Hardware?

I suspect the program is favoring playback over screen refresh, so it is not (for me) a critical problem. My Dell Studio XPS 8100 has an i7-860 CPU and 8 GB RAM, so although it is not a new machine, it has a fair amount of processing power.

I'm running an i7, 16GB RAM, and a screaming graphics card, so I don't think it's the hardware.

Lawson - I've been unable to replicate it since I posted. It comes and goes periodically, in spurts. It'll happen for a couple days, and then go away.

27" or 21.5" iMac? How old? HHD, SSD or Fusion drive? Do you reboot once a day?

When I know your hardware better, I'll be able to make suggestions. I'm on a 2010 iMac i7 and do not have your problem  — even with very large scores.

Dan Kreider:  FYI, I'm experiencing this same issue right now ...five years later on Finale 27.  (Windows 10 with solid hardware 10th Gen Core i7, 16GB RAM, etc.).  When I hit the Page Layout Tool button, the staves reappear and I can work within them.  However, scrolling causes them to disappear again.

Hmmm… Dan hasn’t been seen around here in a long time. He’s a regular on the Dorico boards these days.

Have you sent this to MM Support? Use the Submit a request link at the top of the page. 27 did address some issues with Windows and displays.
