Windows 10

Finale 25.1.0.182

Updated to this version back in October (?) or there-about.

PROBLEM 1:  If I leave the computer with Finale running, up pops this message, and then I cannot do anything in Finale (close window, exit, etc.) until I've dismissed all the messages.  It doesn't leave just one message.  It leaves MANY.  I've had to constantly click "OK" (I tried "X" to close out, also.) So, 54 clicks later, it finally closed. Is there something I can do to avoid this?

PROBLEM 2: Prob #2 also happened with Finale 2012. When I print to our Kyocera printer, the printer will print some note stems but all the note heads print out as dynamic markings  "FFF' or "FF". They will appear at the approximate place on the staff, but no notes. Is there some way to avoid this without having to convert every item to a graphic in order to print it?

Thanks,

Barbara C. Reinhardt

Problem 2 appears to be a font problem, as if your printer does not use the same numeric codes for music symbols that are standard.

Problem 1 is likely Windows related, the system shutting down functions to save energy. As far as I know there have long been problems leaving Finale running while one leaves the computer for extended periods of time (hours or days). As a former computer person, I cannot imagine why one would do that with any program.

My problem is exactly the same as Barbara's second problem. Have you solved it? And, if so, how? Thanks, Zita Denholm

Hi All,

Concerning the font swapping issue, this can be specific to the type of printer you are using. Kyocera printers specifically have been known to swap fonts, so if this is still affecting you, please check out this knowledge base article for more information: Printing Finale files using Kyocera printers.

Barbara: As far as the first issue you mentioned, I would expect that informational message to appear once when your computer loses sight of an audio device for some reason. Do you have any external audio devices (headphones, audio interface, etc.)? Have you tried updating to v25.2 yet? The reason I am curious about the latter is that I do not expect that information dialog to appear multiple times, and I am wondering if an update would help. Here is a knowledge base article that has information on updating to v25.2: How to get the latest version of Finale
