Printing Finale files using Kyocera printers

This is a known issue with Kyocera printers. When using Finale with a Kyocera printer the printer is not able to sense the MakeMusic fonts and swaps them. This causes strange characters when printing. Most Kyocera printers store their fonts in the printer itself and it will be necessary to use the SD card reader (which is on most Kyocera printers) to allow the printer to see the fonts properly.

If you have an SD card that will work with the Kyocera printers (if you have questions about this, contact Kyocera Support) you can download the Finale font pack onto this SD card to use with the printer. Please download the font pack for your operating system from the bottom of this page. For Mac you are looking for MakeMusicFontsTT_7.1.2.pkg and for Windows you are looking for MMFontWin.exe

In the event that your printer does not have an SD card reader, one workaround is to first create a PDF of the file, and then print from a PDF reader. You can do this by following the steps for your operating system below...

Mac

  1. Open your file
  2. Click File > Print.
  3. Click PDF > Save as PDF. in the bottom, left-hand corner of the Print dialog box
  4. Save the file to your Desktop
  5. Print the newly created PDF version of your file using your computer's built-in PDF reader
  1. Open your file
  2. Click File > Export > PDF.
  3. Save the file to your Desktop
  4. Print the newly created PDF version of your file using your computer's built-in PDF reader
