- Navigate to https://mmaccount.makemusic.com.

Under Existing Customers, type your username or email address and password. The My Software page appears.
- Note: If you cannot recall your password, click Forgot your password? to reset it via email.

Click the Download button located to the right of the product that you want to download. A dialog box appears.
- Note: To download earlier versions of Finale, click Previous Versions to reach the download link.
- Choose the Mac or Windows version. The download begins automatically once the next page loads.

Monitor the progress of your download by checking the downloads section in your internet browser.
You can use the following shortcuts to open the downloads section of your internet browser:-
Mac:
- Safari - Press OPTION+COMMAND+L
- Firefox - Press COMMAND+J
- Google Chrome - Press SHIFT+COMMAND+J

- Once the download is complete, you are ready to install Finale.
Installing Finale v25, v26, and v27
- Extract the Finale bundled installer using Windows built-in extraction tools. For more information on extracting Finale’s installer, see "Setup Needs the Next Disk" when installing Finale v25, v26, v27 (Windows)
- Double-click on FinaleSetup.exe to run the Finale bundled installer. A User Account Control (UAC) prompt appears, asking "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" Select Yes.
- A dialog box appears, prompting you to select a language. Select English and click OK.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Welcome to the Finale Bundled Installer." Ensure that the version is correct in the dialog box and click Next.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Select Components." Leave all of the boxes checked, as we recommend leaving these settings at their recommended default for best results, and select Next.
- A dialog box appears reading Ready to Install. Click Install. A progress bar appears showing the progress of the installation. This may take several minutes.
- After it has completed, a dialog box appears, reading "Welcome to the Finale Setup Wizard." Click Next.
- The Finale End-User License Agreement appears. Review the license agreement, check the box labeled I agree to the terms in the License Agreement, and click Next.
- If you have previous versions of Finale installed, a dialog box will appear, reading "Uninstall Previous Version(s) of Finale?" If you do not have previous versions of Finale installed, skip to step 11.
- Select the previous versions of Finale you wish to keep by unchecking the corresponding boxes and click Next.
- A dialog box reading Custom Setup appears. Click Next for the standard installation.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Ready to Install Finale." Click Install. A progress bar appears, showing the progress of the installation. This may take several minutes.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Completed the Finale Setup Wizard." Uncheck the box reading View Readme on Exit and Click Finish.
- A dialog box appears, prompting you to select a language. Select English and click OK.
- The Garritan ARIA Player End-User Software License Agreement appears. Review the license agreement, click I accept the agreement and Next.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Information." Click Next.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Select Destination Location." Click Next, as we recommend that you install the ARIA Player in the default location for best results.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Select your VST directory." Select the directory for the ARIA Player to be installed and click Next.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Select Start Menu Folder." Click Next, as we recommend the default location for the ARIA Player in your Start Menu.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Select Additional Tasks." Click Next, as we recommend creating shortcuts for the ARIA Player.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Ready to Install." Click Install. A progress bar appears showing the progress of the installation. This may take several minutes.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Completing the Garritan ARIA Player Setup Wizard." Click Finish.
- A dialog box appears reading Select Setup Language. Select English and click OK.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Welcome to the Garritan Instruments for Finale Setup Wizard." Click Next.
- The Garritan Instruments for Finale End-User License Agreement appears. Review the license agreement, click I accept the agreement and Next.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Select your Samples directory." Click Next, as we recommend the default location for installing the Garritan Instrument Samples.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Select Start Menu Folder." Click Next, as we recommend the default location in the Start Menu.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Ready to Install." Click Install. A progress bar appears showing the progress of the Installation. This may take several minutes. Additional progress bars showing the progress of parts of the installation process appear.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Completing the Garritan Instruments for Finale Setup Wizard." Click Finish.

Authorizing Finale v25, v26, and v27
- Right-click on the Finale desktop shortcut.
- A dropdown menu appears. Click Run as administrator.
- A user account control dialog box appears. Click Yes. Finale launches.
- A dialog box appears, prompting you to authorize Finale. Click Authorize Now.
- The Finale Authorization Wizard appears. Type your serial number, a descriptive computer name of your choosing, and the email address associated with your MakeMusic account.
- Click Next. A message appears, reading "Thank you for authorizing your copy of Finale." Click Close. The Launch Window appears. You're now ready to get creative.
Installing Finale v25, v26, and v27
- Double-click on FinaleSetup.dmg to run the Finale bundled installer. A progress bar shows your computer’s progress in verifying the Finale bundled installer. This may take a few minutes. A window appears, containing a file named Install Finale.pkg.
- Double-click on Install Finale.pkg. A dialog box appears, reading, "This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed." Click Allow.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Welcome to the Finale Installer." Click Continue.
- A dialog box appears, reading "Important Information." Review the information and click Continue.
- The Finale End User License Agreement appears. Select English, review the information and click Continue.
- A dialog box appears, reading "To continue installing the software you must agree to the terms of the software license agreement." Click Agree.
- A dialog box appears prompting you to choose how you wish to install Finale. Click Install for the standard installation. We recommend the standard installation for best results.
- A dialog box appears, prompting you for your computer’s user password. Type your password and click Install Software. A progress appears, showing you the progress of the installation. This may take several minutes.

- A dialog box appears, asking you "Do you want to move the 'Garritan Instruments for Finale' Installer to the Trash?" Click Move to Trash. The dialog box closes.
- Click Close on any remaining dialog boxes. You have successfully completed the Finale Bundled Installer.
Authorizing Finale v25, v26, and v27
- Click the Finder icon located on the Dock. A new Finder window appears.
- Select Applications from the left sidebar under Favorites.
- Locate the Finale application icon and double-click it to launch Finale.
- Note that when you first launch Finale, you will likely be prompted to grant Finale access to your Documents folder and to the Microphone. Allow both of these when prompted.
- A dialog box appears, prompting you to authorize Finale. Click Authorize Now.
- The Finale Authorization Wizard appears. Type your serial number, a descriptive computer name of your choosing, and the email address associated with your MakeMusic account.
- Click Next.
- A message appears, reading "Thank you for authorizing your copy of Finale." Click Close. You have now successfully authorized Finale. The Launch Window appears. You're now ready to get creative.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I've upgraded. Do I need to have previous versions of Finale installed to install the new version?
A: Nope! Just download the full installer from your MakeMusic account as described in Downloading Finale section at the top of this article.
Q: Will the full installer replace my previous versions of Finale?
A: Finale full installers (large versions like v27, v26, v25, etc.) will install separately from any previous versions of Finale that you have installed on your system. Updaters will replace the current maintenance update of your version of Finale (v27.0, v27.2, v27.3 etc.).
Q: Can I install Finale on both Windows and Mac machines?
A: Yes, when downloading the Finale installer, you can choose whether or not you would like to download the installer for Windows or the installer for Mac.
