Hello!

Running Finale 25 on mac Sierra. In the past, I have been able to create learning mp3 tracks by turning up one instrument while having the other instruments play quietly in the background for context. My process was opening score manager, setting the vol of one instrument to 127, turning the others down to 50. I would then export to mp3 and the mp3 would reflect the custom volume settings.

Currently when I adjust the volume of instruments, I hear the custom volume settings in Finale playback, but when I export to mp3 the instrument volumes are all equal. Any idea what is causing this/how to fix it? Thanks!

Hi Justin,

That sounds like a drawback of playing through MIDI. If your file is set to MIDI/Audio > Play Finale Through MIDI, it will not adhere to volume adjustments made in the Score Manager.

Note: You may want to save another version of your file (File > Save As) on which to try the following.

You can switch to MIDI/Audio > Play Finale Through Audio Units, adjust your volumes, export an AIFF file (no MP3 option when playing through AU/VST), and then convert the file to MP3 using a program like iTunes.

Hope this helps!
