I want to transpose a piece written in concert pitch for a Bb clarinet or sax. but I want to leave the chords for the guitar in concert pitch.
If I understand you correctly, the piece is written in Concert Pitch, and now you want to create a part, still sounding in Concert Pitch during playback, but displaying Written Pitch for a Bb instrument, right?
* Is the score a 1-staff score (lead sheet)?
* Or are there more staves in the score? (like e. g. a guitar staff, or a piano Grand Staff)
I have now transposed the single line score using TRANSPOSE MAJOR 2nd in the drop down menu for a Bb instrument which moves the notes up by one whole note. Is this the correct method please? The chords have remained in concert pitch but the key signature has also remained the same . The notes, have been flattened individually. Should the key signature change and leave the notes without any ( b ) sign in front of them?
Michael Heffren,

I would say that your method is NOT the correct method.
Instead I would
- Change the Staff Transposition to Bb instrument:
(Bb) Up M2, Add 2 Sharps
(This is done in the Score Manager, in the chiclet Instrument List)
- Use the utility to make the chord symbols Capo Chords, with Capo at Fret 2.
(Utilities menu > Change > Chords…)
- De-select the italic display of Capo Chords.
(Chord Tool. Chord menu > Italicize Capo Chords)
In this way playback will be correct - if you click the playback button, you will hear playback in the Concert Pitch key signature.
I have changed the Staff Transposition to Bb using your suggested method ( Score Manager ) but cannot find the Change heading within the Utilities menu nor the Italicize Capo Chords headings within the Chord Tool,Chord menu . I think I must have a different version of software,or I'm looking in the wrong place. My version is 2014a v. 855 if that is any help.
