I'm using Finale version 25.2.0.79 on a Mac Sierra computer.
I'm beginning with the first of 30 scores I'm trying to convert from Finale 98. I'm starting with the very first system, where one commonly lists all instruments, whether they actually play in the first system or not. As we know, this is standard practice so the conductor sees a bird's eye view of who is performing in the piece.
Without warning, Finale deleted the staff on the first system having no notes. It did this, even though I had precisely displayed fermatas (in Finale 98) above all measures, on all staves having fermatas, including on the empty (non-performing) staff of the first system.
It did this, even though I had optimized the first system, including the staff having no notes, but having fermatas, in Finale 98. I had optimized this complete system to remain intact.
Does Finale simply delete, without warning, staves displaying performance indications, but not displaying notes? How do I regain the staff illegitimately lost on the first system? All of Finale 25's possible editing of staves affects the entire score, not individual systems.
