Since it is public domain, would anyone out there have the original sheet music for Fur Elise in Finale format or music xml?

I see it in pdf on the web, but it would be much easier if it were in a format that I could easily import into Finale (without spending an hour fixing import errors).

Thanks.

Good luck with that. Curious why you would think the urtext wouldn't be in the PD just because you can't find it. Every large public library in my area has the Beethoven Complete Works.

PDF files are generally one of two types where music is concerned.

One is distilled from a notation file. The font information is embedded these can be often be read by any of many cheapware pfd extractors for Mac or Win. They usually don't work if custom fonts are involved but you never know till you try.

The other type is a picture that can be viewed any pdf reader or browser. PDF extractors, however, have no ability to extract the font information because there isn't any. Most of the scores on the internet are the picture type—as, frankly, they should be.

To convert the picture type, you need an application like SmartScore X2 Pro can actually scan a .pdf notation file, convert the scan to notation that you edit and export as MusicXML. You can purchaseSmartScore X2 Pro from MakeMusic at a special price of $199.99 for Finale users. It's available for Mac and Windows.

There's a new app called SmartScore Music-to-XML Music Notation Recognition. It does not have the ability to edit—you do that in Finale after you import the file. $99.99 from the App Store (Mac) or Win Store:

If you have a working version of Finale 2014.5 or older, you can use the bundled SmartScore Lite to import a scan into Finale and then open that file in 25. It doesn't do lyrics, most expressions and has many other limitations but, if you have the old version of Finale, it's there.

I meant "in the public domain".

I am aware of the other options.

I have the last three finale versions.

I was hoping to find it in finale format or music xml.

Thanks.
