I am working on an iMac 3,4 GHz Intel Core i7 with 32GB RAM under El Capitan and the latest Finale v25.2.0.79
When I load a Big Band chart with 18 staves into Finale 2011 (which still runs, except for Human playback), absolutely EVERYTHING needing screen redraw, like:
* up, down and sideways scrolling in page view and scroll view
* pressing ⌘D
* zooming in or out
* etc...
is CONSIDERABLY slower in Finale v25 than in Finale 2011, although 2011 isn't even supported on my machine. I am talking about the same document, the same fonts, the same score, the same machine, the same OS.
This is also true, when I start a brand new document in v25 form a default BB template - of course, i cannot compare this document with Fin2011 since it won't open a v25 document.
Fin v25 is behaving much slower than Fin2011 in all areas except rendering audio - which is something you use at the very end of writing a piece. Once.
I am wondering how a software that is over 7 years old and not even 'optimized' for 64bit runs slower than a brand new version on a new and very powerful machine.
Why?
