It's been OK for years, but suddenly this problem has occurred for no obvious reason :-

Parts extract without problem from an original score but, when I combine them into one document for ease of printing [score merger, append]  Tempo Marks and  and other expressions fail to appear on all but the first part.

I have tried altering the junction, in case the order of staves made a difference, but nothing is working.

Ideas please!

Your profile info doesn't say what version of Finale or what operating system you are using. This would help us answer your question.

Gene Egge,

I think that you forgot to tell your Finale version.

Tha latest version is Finale v25.

Is v25 what you are using?

Take a look at the linked parts (Document menu > Edit Part > …)

Are the expressions missing in the linked parts?

My question would be what category the expressions are from. Expressions from the Tempo and Tempo Change categories use a Score List that (at least originally) applies the expressions to all parts even if the mark is only listed at the top of the score in the Full Score.

If you have brought forward an older file and all expressions have ended up in the Miscellaneous category, you will have to make some changes to put the expressions into the categories with the proper Score Lists (found and editable in the Category Designer).

Score Merger should be called score messup. I have used it for years, and it usually messes up both the parts and the score you are appending to.

You can try: Before you merge, try Unlinking the the items in question - right click on the expression and hit unlink. You can choose what to have unlinked form a part to a score - then you may have to manually change the items in your parts.

NOTE you have to do this before you use score merge. I believe (I have not found any way to change this) that when you use merge, whatever you alter in the score will change in the part.

ALSO: check in your score to see if your expressions are really attached to the part you want. It is very easy to attach to expression to a part in the score - you think it looks right, but it is actally attached to another stave, and won't show up in the part then.
