Hi all!  My first post here.  I am getting around in Finale 14 (on a Mac) pretty darn well, and have just completed my first score, and have generated some parts.

Not being very comfortable with links, I generated the parts as separate files, so changes (pretty much only slur & expression corrections) would not apply to the score, unbeknownst to me.

I placed a rather long instruction (in a text box) at the bottom of the score, but it was not transferred to the parts when I crated those files.  I have tried to copy/paste the text, and also copy/paste the text Box to the part, but no go...it looks like Finale won't even copy them.  Since I already spent some while editing the part, I don't want to go back and regenerate the parts, so....help?

Thanks,

Ryan Adams

What works for me, is - in the part - creating a new text block, and pasting the text instruction into the text block.

If you can not make the text block “behave”, try a slightly different approach:

Drag-select the text block handle, and go to

Text menu > Edit Text…

Finale will display the window Edit Text where you can edit the text, including cut/copy/paste.

To edit the text block’s positioning, drag-select the text block handle, and hit Shift-Return to get to the dialog box Frame Attributes.
