I have a MacAir  (without a number-keypad) and using Finale 25 v. 25.2.0.79

Doing the EntryExercises.musx tutorial:

On page 8, attempting to enter intervals above a selected note, following the directions: typing a number 3 after the G is selected only changes the note value on the simple entry tool palette. It doesn't enter a B above the G.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your help,

John

John Giangrande,

Since you do not have a NumPad, I suggest that you use the Laptop Shortcut Table:

Simple menu > Simple Entry Options > Edit Keyboard Shortcuts…

In the pop up menu Select, choose Laptop Shortcut Table.

In the Laptop Shortcut Table the Mac’s F-keys are used for adding intervals.

NB:

Unfortunately also Mac OS X uses the F keys.

You may have to disable the Mac OS use of the F keys.

This is done in the Mac OS Control Panel Keyboard (click the chiclet Shortcuts).

Great Answer. Thanks for you r help.

Instead of changing the function keys, I duplicated the keyboard shortcut set and changed the "interval above" entry to "Cmd+2" for the interval above. And it worked! Correct me if I'm wrong but, the only Cmd+<number> in use seems to be the Tool:Tuplet: Cmd+9.

Thanks again, John

Cmd+9 seems to be the only Cmd+<number> shortcut in the Simple Entry Tool, but …

In my own copy of Finale there are also Cmd+<number> shortcuts for custom zooms:

View menu > Zoom > …
