I'm trying to get Finale to properly playback a song in 6/8 at 86 bpm for the 8th notes but it will only play it for the dotted quarter notes which is VERY slow! I need the metronome marking to say 8th=86 which it does and I've set the Playback controls to say the same thing. But when I look at the Studio view it has dotted quarter notes (2 per measure) and is clicking to those instead of clicking to the 8th notes I need it to click to. How do I do this? I'm not using any MIDI interface so no way to get into Hyperscribe to check other settings. This is very frustrating! It should click to whatever you say!

Running on Finale 25.5 for Mac.

Finale will look at the recorded tempo changes first, then the expression tempo changes, then the playback controls.

 

Since the expression is set to a playback tempo of 8th=86 (=> it does not matter what tempo is set in the Playback Controls), I would suspect that the culprit is in the recorded tempo changes.

 

Try this:

Edit menu > Clear Selected Items…

In the dialog box, de-select everything, and select only Tempo Changes.
