I am editing an orchestral score in which the copyist has included a lengthy cadenza complete with its own rehearsal system and separate bar count. Also within the cadenza are multiple sections with repeat bars. Is it possible to hide this in the linked parts in order to make each individual part more concise and less confusing to the orchestral musician? They just need to know that this is a cadenza and not all the other stuff.
In the parts you could display only the first cadenza measure.
Use a custom staff style to hide e. g. the time signature and the default whole measure rest.
And put the word “Cadenza” on the measure.
Lock the remaining cadenza measures in a separate system, and position that system outside the right page edge in the part.
To do so, go to the Page Layout menu, and de-select “Avoid Margin Collisions”.
This de-selection allows for negative values in the system margins.
When the system is located outside the page edge, it will not print.
You can still see the system on the computer screen if you zoom out.
