I can see it's a pretty old issue with Finale (found it on some other forum couple of months ago), no idea why it hasn't been fixed yet (looks like a simple stupid bug). I tried different DAWs as hosts and the issue persists (tried Presonus Studio One and Cubase on Windows 10 64-bit), so I believe it's unrelated to DAW. When Finale (v 25.5, though the same issue with v25) is in Rewire mode, "playback through MIDI" doesnt work. I set 2 MIDI Outs in devices and set them too in Score Manager (Instruments) - when playing the score, MIDI goes to VSTs set in Finale, although "Play Finale through MIDI" is picked. When entering notes using mouse or MIDI keyboard, notes go correctly into MIDI outputs, but as soon as I play the score - nothing on MIDI outs (but if I load some VSTs in Finale, I can hear them playing). When I start Finale in standalone mode, "Play Finale through MIDI" feature works fine in playback.

I confirm the same issue, that is critical for composers looking to play the midi tracks with external midi instruments (physical or virtual) .. I confirm it does not work Studio one 4.6 , ableton live 10 suite and cubase 10.5 .... I spent so much time with make music support and there is no actual solution for that (it is a big I guess) .. coudl you guys d(dev team)  assign a higher priority ...... it has been there for more than two years as you can see  and no fix ....

 

Please have in mind this is the future way to use score software (Notion works flawlessly in this way, al also dorico) .. so having in mind Finale is the market leader  it does not make sense to isolate your software with this bug.

A few things... This is a Users board. "You guys..." are other users like you. To contact Support directly, use the Submit a request link at the top of the page.

 

As a user, I'm not seeing that this a bug. It appears that Rewire and MIDI support do not coexist. What OS — Windows like the post from 2 years ago or Mac and what build?

 

Although I do have current licenses for both Dorico and Notion as well as a few DAWs, I do not use Rewire and never use MIDI outside Digital Performer anymore so I will not be able to verify any of this.
