As I understand it, in music with multiple layers on a single staff, it is standard practice to place staccato and staccatissimo markings on the stem side rather than the note side, and horizontally align them with the stem. When I add staccato markings in a staff with two layers, they are automatically placed on the stem side as they should be, but are instead horizontally aligned with the note head (see image). Is there a way to set articulations to align with stems automatically? I would prefer to avoid manually nudging them.

I would make a duplicate copy of the staccato articulation, and edit the duplicate so that its default position is centered with the notehead.

Tip:
If you program an articulation metatool, you can quickly add the articulation to multiple notes.
Just hold down the metatool’s programmed trigger key, and drag across the notes.
