Finale 2010

I am having difficulty loading a wave file into my document.  If I used a wave file that I downloaded from the internet, there is no problem.  However if i put several sounds into audacity (which is what I want to do), save as a wave file, Finale will give me an error message "Finale cannot place this type of audio file".

I tried have saving the file (that want to use) as a MP3 then I converted to a wave file using a mp3 to wave program and it successfully converted the file, but Finale still want except it.

Attached are the two files. 1- I downloaded from the internet and 2- No I can't attached the files

I placed in audacity and saved as a wave file.

Please advise.

As far as I know, it's not possible to load a wav file into Finale. However, it is possible to export a Finale notation file as a wav file.

You can load a MIDI or XML file into Finale - is that what you mean?

What do you mean by "load"? You can attach an audio file to a Finale project in recent versions of the program, but you cannot import it and expect notation to appear.

Finale only allows one audio track, if that is what you mean. If you want to mix audio, you need a DAW. You can mix audio in a DAW and export as a stereo file, or you can load MIDI data from Finale into a DAW.

I am not entirely sure exactly what you are attempting, so someone else who does more with audio and Finale may be able to offer additional help.

I have been able to import a (single) stereo mp3 output from  SONAR into a new Finale file, but Finale refused to import a SONAR WAV file. I wonder if it has to do with bit rate.

EDIT: Just tried again, re-exported the file from SONAR but this time I made sure the 64-bit engine was engaged. That file imported into Finale (v25) seamlessly.

Kemara, I had the same problem with wave files created with Audacity and importing the audio track to Finale 2014.

It finally worked when I used Awave to convert the wave file to a "Standard Type" Microsoft Waveform PCM 16bit, 44.1 Khz (Stereo) encoded wav stream. Looks like Finale is not supporting all sorts of wav-files.

On https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/FinaleWin/Content/Finale/Audio_Files.htm it says that MP3 files MUST have 44.1KHz. But it seems to be true for wave files too.

Also check your audio setup in Finale (MIDI/Audio->Device Setup->Audio Setup). Does the sample rate match the sample rate of the wave file?
