Windows 8, Finale 2014.5:  I took an old score from Finale 2009, added some staves, and tried to produce a score.  The old score had a pick up measure, and it was causing problems with measure number recognition.  I've had this problem before, and usually, if I remove the upbeat bar, add a bar that is a full bar, and only right at the end convert it to a pick up bar, I can work accurately on the score.  I also had 3 measure regions, which I had to get rid of in order to get measure numbers to be recognized.

2014.5 didn't want to recognize highlighted regions, and it was affecting "fit measures".  If I highlight measures on p.3, it will put the old pick up bar on p.1 all on its own, with bar 2 on p.2, even though the highlighted measure region was 21-26.  I have gotten around this by highlighting a measure and pressing the up arrow (although I would really like a proper fix). Also, it affected clef changes because it couldn't recognize the measure regions I was clicking.

For the moment, I have removed the pick up bar and the measure regions, and I can work on the score, but it really is annoying to have to remove things that I know I am going to have to put back in the end.

Any solutions for this?  Thanks, B

This is a well known bug.

Fortunately there is a simple solution:

Go to

Preferences > View > Measure Numbers

My guess is that the option “Display Defined Measure Numbers” is selected, right?

Instead, select the other option:

“Display Actual Measure Numbers”

This change will not affect the layout in your Finale documents, only the display in Finale’s dialog boxes.
