How much RAM does your computer have? Creating an audio file takes more RAM than using Finale in other ways. The other thing to check would be your audio engine, which would mean you'd have to use the "Submit a request" link above to contact MM Support.

8 gb. Thought that'd be plenty. I'll do as you suggest about audio engine. Thanks.

If you have other applications open, it's quite possible that 8G isn't nearly enough. The RAM requirements for any app assumes it's the only one you're running. Blame the marketing dept of all software companies.

This is can also be a symptom of a bad stick of RAM. There are utilities you can download to check for this. 

Thanks, Mike. I've taken Verkouteren's advice and submitted a request to MM support. Their advice based on the diagnostic info I sent them was to try and update my audio driver (and unplug everything, etc.) so I'll be attempting that later today. Will update this thread with (hopefully good) news. I do run several of applications at once at times, as I'm trying to publish books and corresponding audio files audio files. Man, when I bought this computer I thought it was a screamer! (geez - purchased in 2009!).

I have had this issue, too.  There are some songs that never have this crashing issue, but some songs cause a crash.  In one song, it happens every time if I have the Playback Settings "Stop at:" measure set to something earlier than the last measure and if I have the "Observe Playback Region when saving to MIDI or audio file".  Unfortunately for me, the WAV file is not created when I get this crash.  I tend to have alternative measures that I keep placed past the end of the actual song sometimes, so I utilize the "Stop at:" and "Observe Playback Region" options quite a bit.  In the song where it crashes, I've been able to get it to work sometimes if I insert a few extra measures, but this has the undesirable effect of adding silence at the end of the WAV file.

I have 16GB of memory, so I doubt that is the problem.  I've had some audio problems in the past, but I think my drivers are up-to-date at this point.
