Just update to latest Mac OS.  10.12.4

Finale 2014.5 crashed twice today. 2nd time was Export to WAV file

1st time may have somehow hit playback without knowing it, else just hung with mouse moves.

Solutions?

Hi Jack,

Just curious, does this happen with all files, or just one/a few?

Since you asked, I have tried older files and they Play fine.

Trying to Playback my latest arrangement ends in Finale hanging.

Pretty sure I closed all files and programs before I updated the OS.

Of course, the arrangement is for Easter. Wanted a WAV file so players can get used to all of the tempo changes.

Thanks for asking.

Thanks for letting us know.

In that case, you may want to first try exporting the file with Human Playback applied. Here's a user manual article on how to do that: https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/FinaleMac/Content/Finale/Apply_Human_Playback_plug-in.htm. In short though, save a new version of the problematic file (File > Save As), select the MIDI tool, and then choose MIDI Tool > Apply Human Playback. Just apply the Standard style (or whatever HP style you choose), and then try exporting the audio again. Make sure that Human Playback is off after applying Human Playback and before exporting audio (MIDI/Audio > Human Playback > None).

If that doesn't work, you may want to try creating a new version of your file using MusicXML. You can do this by following the steps below:

1. Open your document in Finale.

2. Choose File > Export > MusicXML.

3. Save your document as an XML file to your desktop.

4. Choose File > Close.

5. Choose File > Import > MusicXML. Select the file you just saved to the desktop and click Open.

6. Choose File > Save As to save the new document as a Finale file and give it a new filename.

7. Once the new Finale file has been saved, you can delete the XML file from your desktop.

In the newly created file, you may find that you need to make some changes and remake some edits. Two things you normally have to do is regenerate parts, if no parts are created (Document > Manage Parts | in the dialog box that appears, click Generate Parts) and reassign playback sounds (MIDI/Audio > Reassign Playback Sounds).

Hope this helps!
