Mac 10.12.4 Finale 25.3

I am working on an arrangement for recorders and added an additional alto instrument to my established piece. When trying to play back the new line, the volume is so quiet that the instrument cannot be heard unless played solo and then barely heard. What changes are necessary to make the playback heard? I am a beginner user, though I've had Finale for several versions.

Two things I might check are 

  1. The Finale Mixer settings (the one accessible from the Windows menu---not the Aria mixer). Using the Finale Mixer to adjust the relative balance of samples sometimes recorded at vastly different volumes is a useful tweaking technique.
  2. You can select your whole piece (or just the new instrument) and choose Clear Selected items from the Edit menu and then try nuking the MIDI data.

Are you assigning Dynamic Expressions?

That's all I ever use.
