 Finale 25, Windows 10

I'm entering using simple entry. Time is 4/4. I enter eighth note, eighth note tied to quarter. At some point later it becomes eighth note, dotted quarter. I do not want this change to occur. Is there a setting I need to turn off or something? Thanks.

This may be your solution. You will want to uncheck the dotted options. Quantization settings start in the MIDI/Audio menu. Then you will want to ask for "More Settings" until you find the correct screen.

 

 

(I know it says "rests," but it affects notes as well.)

You could also turn off automatic layout updating so Finale will preserve what you enter, but either option will have ripple effects.
