Does this happen in all documents, with all chord symbols?

I wonder whether the problem is program specific, or document specific, or chord specific.

Actually, I have discovered (since this morning) that it seems to be document specific. I thought it might have been the new chord library I made, but when I load that library into a new document, things work. So I'm starting to think the document is somehow corrupt. (I have some other corrupt documents that do not print properly — these corruptions have started with the purchase of the new computer.) I don't get how this happens, though, or how to fix it.

Just an idea:

Open one of the documents where the chord symbols do not play back.

Switch to the Chord Tool.

Take a look at the bottom of the Chord menu.

Is the option “Enable Chord Playback” selected or de-selected?

It's selected. And when I play the piece, chords play — not always the right ones (that is because I was futzing around with things and need to fix them), but there is a sound. It's only in the Fretboard Editor and the Fretboard Instrument Definition that the play button doesn't give me anything.

New test:

What happens if you, in the Fretboard Instrument Definition, select another instrument?

Do you then get sound when you click the “Play” button?

I already tried ukulele and "standard guitar" and neither of them worked. I haven't tried any other instruments.

Perhaps it is time that you contact the folks in MakeMusic’s Tech Support.

It will definitely be useful for them if you attach a sample document, where you can not get sound from the “Play” button.
