Windows 10 Finale 25

I've been using Finale for 16 years, and today when I selected an empty staff and clicked hide empty staff in the staff menu, the staff did not, would not hide. Is there some new complication that I need to know about?

Also, is there a way to restore the earlier way the Playback controls work? Ex. If I'm, say, at measure 147 and I want to rewind, I can't just hit the double arrow rewind button, I have to hit the single arrow fast reverse button and wait till it scrolls back to the beginning - a pain. Can this be changed back to the easy way rewinds and fast forwards used to work?

Thanks, Charles H

Usually when a Hide Empty Staff command does not work it is due to a real, rather than implied, measure rest in one or more of the measures.

One way to check this is to toggle the automatic rests off temporarily for the staff in question.

Thanks - I did try that - making sure there was no data in any of the measures in the staff I wanted to hide. The problem persists. The staff doesn't hide. ??

Is the "Allow hiding when empty" checkbox (top left of Staff Attributes) unchecked by any chance.

You could also try using a Staff Style to hide the measures if the automatic hiding doesn't work.
