I have finale notepad 2012 on my windows 8.1 laptop. I've used it for 3 yrs. with no problem but now when I open it it's unresponsive, and only about a half inch of the top of the site appears on the bottom of the screen. I can get it to change size some by clicking and dragging the edge but it wont go to normal size and is still unresponsive, so clicking on the maximize icon or anything else has no effect. After looking for answers in the forums, I've tried the following:

- Stopping both the windows audio and print spooler in the services box.

- Running compatability and troubleshooting scans in the properties option.

- Restarting the computer after each of the above steps.

- Running anti-malware scans.

I have 3 yrs. worth of song charts that I've used finale notepad to create stored on my flash drive, so if I simply uninstall then re-install finale notepad wouldn't I just be able to access those song chart files like I've always done? That would be a real simple solution but I haven't yet tried that because I want to first make sure that that would work.

If your work files are uncorrupted, uninstalling and reinstalling will have no effect on them.

Thanks for your response Mike. I still haven't resolved the problem, though. I uninstalled finale, but when I tried to install it again I got an "unspecified error" message and it didn't install. I tried installing it from 3 different sites with the same result. Having used Firefox at first, I tried it using Internet Explorer and this time it finally installed. But when I tried opening it, I got the same exact problem I had to begin with -- the finale page appeared in just a small part of the screen and it was unresponsive. When I run a compatibility scan, the resulting message says that it's incompatible. But then why have I been using it for 3 yrs., with the same OS, with no problem, until now?
