I am using Finale 2014.5.7098 on iOS 10.13.1. I am completing a piano/vocal arrangement and most of my pages seem to be frozen at 2 systems/page, even though there is plenty of room for more at the bottom of each page. I notice that in the "Edit System Margins" dialog, all the "Required for add'l system" indications read 0. I've never seen this, and haven't done anything different to my regular protocol.

Thoughts? Is there some constraining command that I can undo?

My first guess would be that some of the systems have a Page Break icon at the beginning (left).

This icon means that the system should always begin a new page.

To delete a Page Break, switch to the Page Layout Tool,

click the system to select it,

use the Page Layout menu to delete the Page Break (or use the context menu).

That was it! Many thanks; I've not used the Page Break command before. How do you think that this got into my score without my asking it?

… How do you think that this got into my score without my asking it? …

How was the document created?

Did you create a new document “from scratch”? - or?

I suppose that the Page Breaks could appear,

- if the music was inserted in an earlier document (containing the Page Breaks),

- if the music came from an optical scanning that was translated into music data via som sort of (music-) OCR software.
