I want to use both Cubase and Finale on the same machine (Win7). That is, when Finale has the focus, Finale has access to the midi port (to which my Roland A-88 is connected), and when Cubase has the focus, Cubase has access to the same midi port.

Is there any way to accomplish this?

Can you be more precise about what is preventing this from happening? Does each block out the other? Does one always win out?

Cubase definitely blocks the Finale midi port -- if Cubase is running I can't even select the midi port in midi setup.

You check the CuBase ASIO driver to see if it can run in non-exclusive mode. I know this is possible in Dorico (and imagine the driver is the same), but I found that Dorico ran better when the driver did get exclusive control.
