Apologies if this is an old problem.

I have a page of music with a 32 measure Standard songbook form - 8 lines of 4 measures a line (locked)

I want to move the top staff down as it is too near the top of the page

When I do so the bottom set of 4 measures hops onto the next page.

I have set 8 systems a page in 'space systems evenly' box but alas it doesn't stay that way.

How do I move the top system and compress the space between systems allowing all 8 systems to remain on the one page?

I know this can be done because I did it yesterday on another score! But I can't retrace my steps.

I'm using a Mac Yosemite 10.10.5 and finale 2014.5.

Robert,

There are two solutions to this - well known - problem:

1) Use the Resize Tool (icon: %) to resize the page down by a few %.

Pro: The layout is preserved - no vertical system collisions.

Con: The notes get a little smaller. But that probably does not matter if you only scale down by a few %.

2) Use the Page Layout Tool to edit the system margins in the seven lower systems, and give the margins smaller values.

This can be done precisely via the dialog box Edit System Margins, or un-precisely - ‘quick-and-dirty’ - via dragging.

Pro: The notes do not get smaller.

Con: You may get vertical collisions - or at least a too tight, cramped layout.
