For years I have created practice MP3's for my the various voices of my choir.  I first create an SATB score then adjust down the volume of of all parts except a single part, then export a MP3 and repeat for each voice.  I then post the MP3's on my website for my singers to practice. I have done this gazillions of times over the years with various versions of Finale.  Last night I created and posted a song with volumes that were correct.

Today I worked on a new song.  In Finale, everything sounds good, one voice playing prominently, etc. But when I export, all the volumes in the MP3 are full blast.  They sound nothing at all like they play in Finale where a single part plays prominently.  Since I have done this so many times without any issues I didn't think to test the MP3's.  After exporting them all and posting on my website I realized they are all wrong.

What could possibly have changed between before and today that would make my exported volumes all wrong?  I am a very frustrated person about now.

I don't know. That's exactly what I do, and I've never noticed a problem.

If something worked yesterday, and now it doesn't, restart the computer. If that doesn't help, trash the preferences.

I'm going to try again tonight.  Thanks for at least confirming that it isn't normal.

I found that if I export as a MusicXML, then re-import into a new updated Finale file everything exports correctly.  It must have been a corrupted file.  I was using an older template from an earlier version of Finale.

Glad you found a solution. That's one of the reasons that it's recommended to rebuild your templates with new versions, rather than just updating them.

I will be rebuilding my templates as you say.  I think that will help a lot.

By the way, quite a while back I asked how to mark a question as "answered."  I see a few of them in the list with the green "answered" indicator to the right.  By golly, I have looked all over again to see if I can find how to mark a question answered, and I cannot find it.  And I'm a systems guy by profession.  If a systems guy can't find how to easily mark a question as answered, they might need to reconsider making it a bit easier!  Maybe with a little checkbox at the top?  :-)  Holy cow.  Where is it again?

The forum sysop is the one who marks questions as Answered.
