I'm using Finale 2014 on Mac 10.12.6.  There is this REALLY annoying bug that is driving me crazy that I've had for several months.  When I try to use the selection tool, holding down the mouse to select some of the notes, about 85% of the time instead of this happening, a random chunk of the music is click-dragged somewhere else, and then the software freezes until I click somewhere else on my desktop (not in Finale).  In Finale, until I click somewhere else, I cannot see the mouse.

What the hell is going on here?  I keep accidentally copying stuff.

I was considering paying to upgrade but I have SO many bugs with Finale that I don't really want to shell out more money.

Are you starting your selection rectangle outside the staff itself?

Well, I couldn’t really see what you were doing, you moved so quickly. But it appeared that after you made a selection, you were not going back to that selection to drag it anywhere, but rather were clicking (or so I assume) at a random location.

in any case, whenever something used to work, but now it doesn’t, step one is to restart the computer. If that doesn’t help, step two is to trash the preferences.

Have you tried either of those?
