I have an old version of Finale, 2008.  Can anyone please tell me if there is an option somewhere to hide layered rests.

Thank you,

Van

I just checked my Fin 2008 and you can hide rests by using the "h" key in simple entry, same as now [current version].

Thank you George.  Is it shift h, alt h, alt h, shift - alt h, or just simply h.  I tried them all in the simple entry, no luck.

Thank you for your time and patience.

I just located instructions.  It is control h in simply entry.  I am just not having it work for me.  Thanks again for your help.

Ok.

Check the following:

Select the Simple Entry Tool, go to:

Simple Entry Options > Edit Keyboard Shorcuts > Modify Show/Hide (from the list)

What do you see there as the listed shortcut? The default should be just plain old "H"; no combination keys.

Also:

from the Edit Menu, go to:

Program Options > View > Hidden Object Shading

Make sure it is NOT set to 100%. The default should be 50%.

(edit: just saw your previous post ... )

Also, make sure you have selected the REST, not the REGION.

I find using Speedy entry is a faster way to "arrow" through beats to the rests I want (in the appropriate layer) and then press h or zero to hide them.

You can arrow through the beats just as quickly, in Simple.

Well, I was never a simple person (despite what my students may have whispered when I was teaching).
