Software: Finale PrintMusic 2011a.r1

Today I tried to use playback with the setting: Play Finale through MIDI (under MIDI window)

Result: No sound and no indicator of where in the sheet one is

Then I tried to use playback with the setting: Play Finale through VST

Result: Sound is playing, but there is still no indicator

Question: How can I recover the playback indicator?

I would refresh the preferences.

Most likely you have a driver conflict. Either your sound card or video card. Make sure both are up to date. You can try a preferences reset since it is easy but I would look for a conflict somewhere. Have there been any software (Windows) updates to your computer? Have you added any new software?

What are your sound settings in Print Music? Midi/Audio>Device setup

The problem was solved.  Now everything works fine again. The system was updated today so this might have been the reason for the restoration. I haven't done any other changes to the system when the problem started or when it ended. Thanks Mike and Ernest for the advice!
