Hello, Finale 26 running on MacBook Pro 10.14.6

 

Im doing a sketch on a grand staff. Each staff has two layers. This is not a piano piece, but an orchestral sketch played with a piano sample if that makes sense: later ill bounce it out to the proper staves and instrument colors.

Anyway, I'd like very much to assign different dynamic settings to each part on the grand staff. And i've done that, easy enough. But I'm not hearing the different dynamics playback. I have assigned each part a different midi channel in Score Manager.

Here's what I hear: In the top stave of two layers, I have assigned layer 1 to "p". By measure 3 a second part enters and I assign a "pp". I set separate midi channels in Score Manager. When I play back, sure enough layer 1 is "p", but when i hit measure 3 and Finale sees layer two at "pp" it plays back both layers at "pp". And yes, I did assign Layer 2's dynamic while layer 2 was active and I did make sure that the dynamic part was attached to the layer 2 note.

Any suggestions?
